November 21, 2012
Wing Tsun Kung Fu was deleloped as a system of martial arts about 300 years ago by a Buddhist nun named Ng Mui. It was named after her first student Yim Wing Tsun. The meaning is translated to Beautiful Springtime or Eternal Spring.
The goal of developing this style of martial arts was to provide a practical and effective self defense system that could be learned in a short amount of time.
Great Grandmaster Ip Man was the first Chinese to start teaching this form of martial arts openly in Hong Kong.
Si-Jo Leung Ting was one of the last private students of Ip Man and has since helped spread Wing Tsun Kung Fu to the rest of the world through his organization IWTA (International WingTsun Association.)
